The Cloud & Why You Need It

I can recall growing up thinking that we would one day have flying cars, orbiting buildings, and floating backpacks. While most of those things don't exist yet, there is something that is floating in space.. or so it seems.. and that is your data. If not, well it should be.

To the Cloud...

Okay, it's not really floating in space. It's data and it's accessible from virtually anywhere. This is something that any and every business can benefit from. Anywhere where there is an iPhone, a laptop, a wi-fi connection, or a library. What is the cloud?.. Well, the easiest way to get started is to use Google Docs.

Stay in contact forever. Why you need Google Voice

Google Voice Logo

I have been an avid user of Google Voice for years. I guess the number one reason is the portability, the ability to have it ring any and all phones. So you get the google voice number for FREE (I love free).Choose your favorite area code, next you tell google which phone that you want to ring.

Got Voicemail

Google voice make a decent attempt of transcribing your voicemail so that you get it via email, text message, or however you want it delivered. Nothing like being in a meeting and reading a text message that states you have the contract and call back when you get a chance. It also offers affordable international calls to anywhere. I would defintely reccommend this to anyone getting there business cards because if your phone number changes and they do.. you can alwany login and point your google voice number to that new office space that you just purchased.

What is a DUNS Number

The DUNS number is a nine-digit number issued by D B assigned to each business location in the D B database having a unique, separate, and distinct operation for the purpose of identifying them. The DUNS number is random and the digits have no apparent significance. There is no charge to obtain a DUNS number. When obtaining a DUNS number online, the wait can be as long as 30 days; when requesting a DUNS number by phone (and paying an investigation fee), it is issued immediately.

What is SCORE?

Are you in the U.S.? Are you aware of SCORE? The name stands for Service Corp of Retired Executives, a volunteer organization funded by the SBA that offers free counseling and related help to entrepreneurs and small businesses in the United States.

I’ve found a article from one of those SCORE volunteers, who worked as a volunteer for about three years. Resources like these that are, affordable (free), and readily available are essential in the success of business.
